What to measure after launching a website

In short: measure what ties to the goal. A website that brings enquiries does not need dozens of charts, but a few clear numbers followed consistently.

Five useful indicators

  1. Enquiries and calls. Forms submitted, clicks on phone and email.
  2. Conversion rate. The share of visitors who take the desired step, per source.
  3. Qualified traffic. Visitors from searches with intent, not just the total.
  4. Indexing and positions. From Google Search Console: indexed pages, impressions, clicks.
  5. Speed and mobile experience. Load time and page stability.

Indicators to ignore or put in context

  • Total visits, with no source.
  • Time on page, taken in isolation.
  • Positions for terms unrelated to your customers.

Minimal setup

Google Tag Manager for tags, Google Analytics for behaviour, Google Search Console for searches and indexing. Events for the form and the call are defined from the start, and the cookie consent follows the rules.
